night car through glass on film, red flare and absence

call me if you need me,

but i mean, if you really need me

don’t call just to chat,

i’m tired of niceties and small talk exchanged for a glimmer of attention and mostly,

that i can’t tell which role belongs to me, and which to you

call at night if you need to,

but i mean, if you really need to,

see, at 2:30 in the morning

i’m rolling over to your side of the bed to try and sleep a little longer.

they say flipping your pillow to the cool side helps curb sleep interruptions and reduces daytime fatigue,

so i make this practice a habit, then,

i learn your side to be the “cold side” of the bed, the warmth turned cold in your absence.

it’s science you know.

i think i’m so tired from jumping to conclusions,

somewhere between late nights

and early mornings

make for

a vivid, dream coated,

nightmare when you play your part
